Mastodon isn't perfect.
But the fact a social network exists that is completely free to use,
has no venture capital investors,
has no shareholders to answer to,
has no growth targets,
with a web interface with zero cookies,
and mobile apps with zero trackers at all
with ten thousand server administrators who donate their time for user safety
is - in my opinion - mindbogglingly cool, given the state of the world we live in. Not everything has to be shit. People make things better.
I took @nixCraft's 'No NAT November' challenge and switched my network to IPv6-only!

They had a little look and, well⦠They found some servers. Isnāt that interesting?
Well, I best be on my way now.

But if the rubber ducks can find the problems in the code by themselves then why do we need to pay the programmers

It's rambly as always, and barely checked for typos or other inconsistencies. But I hope it's interesting anyway.

SDL3 has hit ABI lock!
You can now trust the interfaces to stay stable. We will _add_ but not _remove_ or _change_ what's there, so it's safe to migrate your game to it!

We're rushing to an official release from here, but what's there has been battle-hardened in Steam and DOTA2 and CS2 for over a year now, across several platforms.

it's wild how RSS/atom feeds are like the jumanji box of web technologies. so many websites don't advertise it, but there's often a secret dusty box full of surprises in the <head> tag, waiting patiently for you to open it
